Summer is still , after all these years away from my childhood in the South (US) .. the scent of honeysuckle and fireflies at night... the smell of Coppertone lotion and the taste of anything from the BBQ and chocolate ice cream after dinner.

Summer is the smell of dune grass after a summer rain. I love this post and I hope you are having a beautiful weekend Deb! ox

Hi dearest Deb,
Fresh back from the warm sun of Tuscany, I can feel an Autumn chill in the air, here in the UK.
Summer to me is eating outside, friends round for drinks in the garden, trips along the Thames on a Sunday afternoon, scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam, warm breezes and freshly mown grass, a summer shower and beautiful sunsets. Gorgeous post, Deb with brilliant images. Hope all's well with you and the family. Lots of love. XXXX

Yes pie! I love summer dances-- dress up, a band, everybody on the dance floor, switching partners, girl dancing! Tomatoes, basil, fresh herbs, squash casserole.
Fun post,

Dearest Deb,

What fun this was. Summer camp, tennis lessons, riding my bicycle with my dog, the smell of freshly mown grass and back-to-school shopping (well, it was still officially summer).

Happy Labor Day to you.

xo,
Tish

Adorable, stunning, witty funny, beautiful, and the list goes on -your post was a perfect summer fest, of all the wonderful things we can share and do,
I will take the summer with me in my heart to warm me in the winter months while I dream of spring time and renewal in my garden, and to watch once more the glory of the warm suns rays as it nourishes my garden green.

Cheers, -- into autumn the second spring this time the tree colors bloom.

Oh, I love the wedding one. It really does scream summer, because so many weddings happen during those feeting months...I know mine did! And the watermelon picture is just great. I love your list...and the part about the "phone calls from boys" made my heart skip a beat. Great farewell :) XO, Kelly

Ahh, I'm loving these photos! Oh summer, how I'll miss thee... although we're still getting the last batch of sun and warmth here, so I'll be taking in as much of that as I can before it's gone. Hope you had a great weekend!

Some of my favourite summer words: cottage, lake, swimming under the stars, kayaking, lemonade, late sunsets, BBQ, dinner on the patio...

I can't find Sun-In anymore. There goes my cheap way to be blonde!! ;-)

Oh my, that was the perfect summer wrap up. You have me feeling nostalgiac for the summers of my childhood, even as my favorite season of autumn approaches. This is great inspiration, Deb. I'm not sure if I can sum it up in single words, but favorite memories include: summers at the sailing club fishing, swimming, picnics, and of course sailing the dinghies that my dad built, the rope swing at the creek found 1/4 mile off from the roadside rest area in New York (traveling with my Dad, uncle, sister, and cousins), playing tennis followed up by visits to the pool every day the summer before my junior year in high school, samurai watermelon (a pin-on-the-donkey type game that my family plays, involving a blindfold, a croquet mallot, and a watermelon). Volleyball, waterskiing, and skits at family camp (an annual event at the church I attended growing up). Homegrown tomatoes, and Dad's overcooked barbecued chicken with my mom's plethora of delicious side dishes.

Ok, I'm going to bed dreaming happy dreams of summers gone by, and looking forward to a fall full of good times with family and friends.

I had started to write my lost to you when this post was first well, posted...and I was seriously interupted! so, here I go again...

When I was a kid, in Cali., it went like this~
10cent ice cream cones, the beach & sand everywhere, sunburns, Carmel CA, Tee-Pee Club (my day summer camp) and all that went with being there...

Grown-Up (ha) in Seattle~
B-bq's, beach (no sunburn & rocks everywhere), sweaters, duvet covers in July, super white legs, and 3dollar ice cream cones once or twice. BUT, there's ferry rides, the lavender fesival, farmers markets, gardening (one day again), and stunning skies...not to shabby actually...oh yeah, and rhubarb pies!

Loved this post...sorry it took me so long to get back to it!!!
xoxo J~

Wow, you've summed up summer perfectly! I'll be stumped if I can think up of anything else!

As much as I love summer though, I do really love the autumn. I love wearing coloured tights to brighten up the day. I love the smell of autumn in the air. I love wearing scarves to keep me warm!
