Creativity in Spades

You've got 2 ladders, 355 rolls of fluorescent tape and 48 hours;
where would your creativity take you?

If your talented, Texan, and hired by mega fashion brand Kate Spade
and your name is Rebecca Ward, this is what unfolds, literally.

During New York fashion week, Ward created her second (tape) 'installation' for
Kate Spade at their Broome Hill store to kick-off Spring.

With it's zillions of pink and yellow tape to compliment their new Spring line, Kate Spade threw what they dubbed as a "Tape Party" complete with a designated "Tape Bar".

Stocked with rolls of sticky gaffers tape, and blank journals in which to encourage
New Yorker's to "live colorfully" and be creative.

Guests with cocktails in hand, music bumping; ripped, tore, and
stuck to fuel their creative genius.

or 'not'...
We fell for her playful appeal and bold use of color – two things we take seriously
at Kate Spade New York,”
said the store of Rebecca Ward.
Enter to win the Rebecca Ward custom taped "Maryanne" tote here on
facebook by entering the Kate Spade 'Pop of Color Contest'. Must
enter by Monday March the 8th.

Kate Spade first joined forces with Ward for an installation in their Aoyama
flagship store in Tokyo. They fell hard for her creativity
and brought the collaboration home.

Be sure to check out Wards tape installation and Kate Spade's newest collection
at the New York flagship located on 454 Broome St. until the first of July 2010.

oh my gosh, this is too fun! however, as a girl who has used dozens (hundreds?) of rolls of painters tape in her life, i have to say that it also makes me feel a teeny bit anxious. imagine the amount of work...

hope you're doing well sweetie, i've been thinking about you. XOXO, M

Good Grief !!!! How did they do that. I can't understand what happens with the sticky side ! Does it get all 'bits' on it ? If I had attenpted that i would have been stuck to it as well !!!!
I think that it looks brilliant and must have been a nightmare to do . I would have had tape in places that you wouldn't think it would be possible to have tape!! I loved this post Deb. Really fun and so interesting to see what can be done with such a simple roll of tape. XXXX

Wow!! I had no idea tape could be so creative and fun!! And colourful too :-)

I wonder how long it took her to design the layouts for the tape -- the way the strips of tape criss-cross each other is mind-boggling!!
