nevermind - photography & nirvana

mansardroof image flickr

Photography is much like looking into the soul of it's creator. What's fixating is to look through the end of the camera lens of a talented teen photographer; an adult - deeply, passionately entrenched in it's infancy stage.

The creative well thought out images are like looking into a mirror of your days past. You feel their joy, understand the angst and you marvel at knowing that before them are uncharted waters. Rolling waves of feelings on the tips of ones fingers.

If I were writing a screen-play, this is where I would fade into said scene with the Nirvana song, "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The moody grunge song building into an accarezzévole (expressive & caressing) accelerando (accelerating; gradually increasing the tempo) and as loud as your ear-drums can suffer. After all you are young, and impending deafness is 'narry a worry'.

I must be longing for my youth today...............

From another Seattleite, this one famous, not I;
I part with a few Kurt Cobain quotes;

Photography by a young man (Mansard Roof) in his teens - his bio reads;
"i like forts made outta sticks, waking up early and foggy windows".

"this is who i am"

"Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are." - Kurt Cobain

Sophie Wilson brings the tender female side to her photography. She writes;

Sophie, 18 - illustrator, photographer, French-film lover, lighthouse enthusiast. Illustrator then photographer. Living in Shropshire, the dairy county, England
let's be friends.

With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My Libido
Yeah, a denial

smells like teen spirit - Nirvana

{go forth & live responsibly}
live like you were young,
if you are young,
capture it in a mason jar

Deb...it looks like youre longing for your youth AND Seattle. Well just so you know...it's freezing and raining here today...on Seafair weekend no less! The Blue Angels are hidden by all the clouds. ;)

The memories of our youth provide such an escape from the present with all of it's "stuff". I wish Kurt's youthful memories would have done that for him...what a wise (but tortured)soul.

Thanks for the peak at these great images...hope all is going well with your house!

xoxo Jessica

I am so with you...I long for my youth. In summer, my kids are home with their friends and seeing them brings me back to my college days with all its traumas, adventures, highs and lows...the wild 80's...Ibiza, 54, job in Saint tropez...the problem is that I still feel as this young wild fearless girl and it sometimes so hard to act and behave a a grown up...don't you think?? I forgot to mention I used to follow Pink Floyd and Yes, spent nights listening to Leonard Cohen and Cat Stevens...Really hope that you will make it to New York one day, we could reminisce on our youth past and have a great old time...Francine

Dear Deb,
Fabulous images accompanied by the words of one of my favourites.
Our son and daughter were Nirvana followers and their music, along with Faith no More, Soundgaerden and Pearl Jam, blasted out on full volume, from the moment they woke up until they went to sleep !! I know them off by heart. We were in the States when he died and had tickets to see them when we got homr. So sad....what a tourtured soul.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.....Can I come with you when you visit Feancine ?!!! I was a great YES fan too !!!!
Hope all's well with you Deb and that the house sale is going well.
We are off to Italy next week. XXXX

Such a nice glimpse into those two young artists' portfolios of work. I don't know if you recall, but I, too, love photography. And I especially enjoy being behind the lens capturing whatever strikes my fancy! It really IS a wonderful medium, and it's so accessible. I mean, anyone can pick up a camera! But, of course, NOT everyone is talented... Ya either gots IT, or ya ain't gots it!

I also like how you've captured the spirit of youth, here. It resonates quite nicely.

Hope all is going well in your world, Deb! :)

Deb,
Great post....I must say I never listened much to Kurt Cobain, but he actually had some pretty profound statements. Too bad he wasted his life.
I miss my youthful days in ways. I like having the wisdom and life experience now, but would love to have my youthful physique!
