Summers Heat

Grab your water bottles, and hang on to your saddles; it's another hot summer, sporting hot cyclists in this years "96th Le Tour de France". Those palatable men of the peloton with pedal power that has built the thigh & calve muscles of real men. Whether you admire them for their stamina, or their love & dedication to this grueling sport; you have to appreciate the United Nations of gorgeousness. The tour began July 4th from the tiny principality of Monaco with 200 men comprised of 20 teams, from all over the world; riding rain or shine for 3500 kilometers, over 23 days. If you are void of appreciation for sporty men in spandex, then the stunning sites of Monaco, Spain & France (ultimately ending in the city of love, Paris Champs-Élysées) should fill another visual need.

So saddle up people & give me your feedback on the sport of cycling. Merci'

Honestly I've never paid much attention to cycling. As most Texans did, I followed Lance Armstrong's career with a passing interest, but I can't say I know about the sport beyond that.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the sun Deb(it's rainy here in Ireland..shocking, yes!).

Last time I was on a bike I was on my way home from summerschool and got hit by a car (no serious injuries) my mom's response? Well, if you hadn't had to go to summer school it wouldn't have happened. It's your own fault.

That was manymanymany years ago and a true story.

Listen my dear lady, I thought you'd like to know that I'm holding an amazing giveaway on my blog. There are 4 different Lipstick Queen prize packages up for grabs (total retail $200). You can enter here.

Have a great weekend!

So, the sis and I were just talking tonight about how we don't get all the hubub about the tour. But after these pics, I might have to get into it.

OH, DUMBWIT!

And I thought I was the only 'secret' girl Tour de France follower!

I detest sport--but this is grace and beauty and handsome chaps in tight pants on wheels, with strategy and muscles and all rather handsome.

Your post is so detailed and fantastic. I am--to repeat--not a sports person at all (loath pro football etc)--but the photography, the scenery, the helicopter images of the country towns, Provence, Monaco, the peloton, and all the great shots inside the chase cars of the managers driving and talking into phones to riders and writing stuff and staff leaning out open windows...it is all too thrilling. I appreciate the low-key and v v informative commentary from former pro cyclists, English accents and all. I'm so glad it takes them so long to ride through France. Ride strong, Lance. I hope you win.

DUMBWIT-

Almost forgot.

I am going to add you to my blog roll on www.thestylesaloniste.com--on the strength of this one post alone. Genius.

My neighbors are there for the entire thing...he's big in the cycling world. I love the French countryside but I'll admit to a wandering eye towards other views too. Thor's a bit of a hottie!!!

Fantastic collection of Tour photographs! I'm blown away, and cannot wait to read more of your blog! My fiance rides 20 miles at a time, 4 times a week, on a mountain bike. He used to do week-long event rides of 50-100 miles a day and he has done several 75-mile mountainous rides. He doesn't have that 4% body fat ultra-thin cyclist build, but he has the most amazing legs ;)

Thanks for following my blog!

(Something happened so I don't know if my previous comment went through but here it is again.)
Confession: I am not following the Tour but in previous years I was a fan of Giro d'Italia. Your enthusiasm is contagious and my interest in this sport is fresh again.

There are certainly situations in which spandex is MOST appropriate. :)

Wowzers - what a bunch of good looking, incredibly fit men! Yummy!

And I'm so glad you didn't just focus on Mr. Armstrong. Wife-leaver.

You're married to a Scot!? My husband is Welsh!
