who I am, and what my presence speaks to this world?
- Are my teeth white enough?
- Do I have belly fat?
- Why did my hair not have body?
The flip side to this puzzlement is the positive;
- I no longer will have to ask, "do these pants make my bum look large?"
- No more trimming the Scottish husbands bushy eyebrows only wishing they were mine.
- I can crank the A/C up as high and for as long as I desire with carefree abandon, well..for at least a few more hours.
I ask if my soul could be brought back one more time..
and that it please inhabit a woman that is equally as stylish, adorable, and polished, as this swank young lady?
After all, is it fair that one incredibly youthful gal ...
can style, accessorize and be-deck herself...
in such magnificent, glorious, ingenious, grandeur?
She pins, and ties, twists and re-fashions, mixes and
avoids matches with the best of the stylish mavens.
Babe Paley incarnated.
So, should this day result in the end as we know it...
may my next life be void of my battered Birkenstocks...
& my same gold loops worn over and over and
over again....
May I adorn with feathers, leopard, leather and gold...
and tie a scarf that would make
Coco scream with delight, "LE MAGNIFIQUE"
Can I please not worry what others may say?
and wear a hat most everyday?
May I introduce to you 'Bee', as in "I want to BE her". Follow Ms. Bee's fashion escapades (which are beautifully photographed) on her blog 'Atlantic-Pacific'. Who does not adore a California girl I ask?
This is the dumbwit signing off. May our weekend be much longer than anticipated. In the meantime, I'm back to my meditative state of mind.
{go forth and live responsibly}
hoping for champagne in heaven.
cheers my dears

hi Deb
I feel the same way about the potential end of the world. (!)
I just checked out that Atlantic Pacific lady. Whilst those 'Picture of me in what I am wearing today' blogs freak me out a bit I must admit she has style.
Funniest is the comments - they all just say the same thing 'you look cool' and there are hundreds of them!
Hope you are well xoxo
C'est magnifique!!!
Fantastic post Deb..I was with you every step of the way. Love the style here...off to see more :) Glad we are making it thru another day, would hate to miss your posts :)
Best wishes Deb

Excellent.

All I know is this... I'm not going anywhere without Edward!
hehe Deb.. Hilarious..
If we get to live a tad longer I've decided I'm going to go polka-dot.. love the Babe Paley incarnation ensemble for some reason I can't fathom..
Now having said that.. you realise 22 May has been and gone at my end of the world.. and as far as I can tell.. we are still here.. thought about posting this.. hmm.. is there time.. does it matter.. ahahaha
Have a great WEEK.. ciao xxx Julie
Still here!!! These kooky 'Christians' give us non-kooky Christians a bad name! :p
Off to check out the site, I need a little fashion inspiration, I've been in house mode for five years and haven't bought a thing other than faucets, lighting, sheetrock & every other little thing that goes in a house...(help)!
xo J~
delayed reaction.. i meant 21 May has been and gone.. they make 'em bright here in Aus.. haha
Love your style! We can be stylish at any age....it might just take some of us a little more effort...I have been rather lazy in that department...as for May 21st I really never did believe that God has a calendar in mind, especially with all these time zones.
Deb it is not too late, I am thinking of taking some action myself!!
xoxo

You will love it!
I agree with Karena, it is not at all too late to shake things up a bit and get inspired...I often get stuck in the same wardrobe rut but then do a quick go-through the closet to get inspired and find things I had forgotten about ...and pray they still fit!
Have a fantastic weekend, and check your mail next week!
Nathalie
oh you are a charmer. loved your photo story. cheers love.
Hello Deb:
It is Sunday and we, and also, we hope you, are still here. How wonderful. Life begins now, again.
It is perhaps good for the soul to take time now and again to reappraise and to give thanks for all we have. No matter about what we wish to be, let us be ourselves in all things. For you are most certainly an individual, a singular wit, a lone observer, a one-off. Tomorrow, as they say, is a whole new ball game!!
Well Deb, I think that I'm still here, It's hard to tell, this early on a Sunday morning......but, have just heard that the other Icelandic volcano has erupted again so, maybe he over reacted a bit !!!!....... and, our daughter is in the skies at this moment, on her way to the Caribbean so, I hope that the volcano calms down !
I think that, style is in the eye of the beholder and, some is a little too fussy for me and not enough black !! She looks wonderful though.
Hope all's going well with the house....am thinking of you and have my fingers permanently crossed ! XXXX
Still here (but had no doubts) so thats no surprise! Its a great opportunity for us all to take the time to think about life, ourselves, what we want out of it, what we are doing to achieve those goals....and mostly to go for it. Noone is going to hand it to us, we have to make it happen!! All those pictures were AMAZING...such totally fabulous super chic style! Gorgeous!
Well, it's Sunday my dear. And I'm still here....with my old sandals, a bit of a pillow for a tummy, white hair still needing to be colored but grateful to be in good health....although a little remake in the wardrobe dept. would be heavenly. Love your photos. I think I better go on another diet to fit in the jeans in pic #4! (Oh, let's be honest. Those jeans are never gonna happen.)
Having not had a drink in 23 years I was following the news closely...
if I was going to be left behind ( and you know i was) to die an inglorious death in the next 5 months...I was going to open a bottle of champagne myself.
no luck,still sober:)
xo Jane
wonderful! I've checked her out a few times and found myself wishing the SAME THING!
It's Sunday now so I guess we're outta luck! donna
So fun, you are!!!
Love you,
Deb, I love your thinking and I love atlantic-pacific, too... just started following! Yes, time to start mixing-it-up... or at least in my case, actually using/wearing my boat-loads of accessories!! I love what Pamela said yesterday, and I'm sure you do, too!! oxo
Well if God doesn't have a sense of humor I was screwed anyway.I love all the accessories in those photos. Adds a little magic to a lady.
Oh Miss Deb ... no matter how short my time on this earth is, it will always be well spent admiring YOUR stylish ways ! Loving Miss Bee's style too ... she makes me want to try harder.
XO,
Lisa
I say to all the doomsayers - why rush death it will be here soon enough to claim us all. Besides it is God's business not ours.
Love the feather skirt, I think I would like to wear something funky like that on my last day here on earth, while I was doing something compassionate and spending time with loved ones.

Tomorrow I am going to put on REAL clothes. Not mom clothes. Not garden clothes. Not grocery store or laundry clothes. Tomorrow I am going to have a board meeting with the clothes in my closet. I am going to remind them that IIIII am the chairman! There will be firings, promotions, and replacements!!!!
When I finish with my clothes & closet, I'm taking my jewelry drawer out to lunch so that we can get re-aquainted.
Thank you for this important memo!
xo lisa
Love your way with words Girlie Girl! Great images and good thoughts to ponder! Wouldn't it be fun to have a lifestyle outside of mom, taxi driver, grocery shopper and gym rat?
xo
Well, Deb, she's swanky and chic beyond measure, but we like you better than her. That's just one of the mysteries of life.
