VooDoo I do? - Bridezilla or Doughnut Diva?

Have I got the destination wedding idea of all ideas - The "VooDoo Doughnut" wedding. Yes indeed; just picture yourself in beautiful Portland, Oregon. Your immersed in a community steeped in culture, blanketed in green and surrounded by beautiful waters. Home to a heaping of liberalism, dedicated cyclists, foodies, and a vibrant, hip, music & nightlife scene; not to mention my daughter, "Kate the great", and soon to be resident; graduate son, "journalistic/multi-media - Matt".

Most of all, Portland is home of "VooDoo Doughnut"; famous for it's de-funked Jägermeister and NyQuil doughnut (so you can't put drugs or booze in doughnuts?) Okay maybe you've heard of VDD, especially after the king of all foodies, Anthony Bourdain, taped a segment there? But what you may not have known is they do weddings. Starting at $25. for a "intentional commitment" which is a non-legal wedding for those just "trying" the wedding scene out, up to the "Whole Shebang"; this includes airfare, hotel, legal ceremony, chapel, doughnut centerpiece & coffee. VDD states that a bridezilla & groomzilla tolerance fee is extra.
If you just happen to be in sticker shock from your quote of a $20,000 wedding gala, think VooDoo; with it's cock-n- balls, triple chocolate penetration, and dirty snowball doughnuts. What screams marital bliss more than this? The magic is truly is in the hole.

VooDoo Doughnut & Wed
ding Chapel is at 22 S.W. Third Ave. in Portland, OR. You can call them at 503-241-4704. They're open from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. (that's not a typo). They open at 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. They're closed Sundays and Saturday mornings. (I'm told the really interesting, non-tourist customer traffic starts stopping by around 11 p.m.)

I'm fairly certain good doughnuts would beat out 90% of the wedding food I've had the "pleasure" of eating.

That is so great! How FUN!!!!! You really can't go wrong with doughnuts and/or cupcakes for any occasion really. Some people do a wedding "cake" out of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, just stacked up. :o)

this is definately one of the craziest things I've ever heard of. I would never in a million years put doughnuts and weddings together!!

I forgot to say that it is a very, very funny story and congrats on your great kids.

Averill is so spot on that their doughnuts would beat most wedding food. They do!!!
I can only eat half of one but they're worth it. Whether a wedding or a nosh for the atmosphere & people watching Voodoo is a must for a visit to Portland.
